DOWNTOWN AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

Downtown PKB met with community stakeholders in early 2018 to talk about the idea of engaging a core group of volunteers assisting with downtown cleanup projects in Parkersburg.

Through a series of conversations, the Downtown Ambassador Program, also known as DAP, was born. It is a vital volunteer-based initiative coordinated by United Way Alliance of the Mid-Ohio Valley.

DAP utilizes volunteers from our community and local recovery facilities to help with facade and beautification of the downtown Parkersburg area. The use of recovery related volunteers has led to stigma reduction and greater positive visibility in our community.

Since the launch of this program, we have seen over 700 volunteers. They have collected more than 25,000 pounds of garbage and debris and helped to clean up more than 90 miles worth of city blocks in Downtown Parkersburg and the surrounding area.
